Even though this is a Spring report and it should be getting warm by now we have continued to get cold fronts which have our big Louisiana red fish still thick in the marsh. Most people have the misconception that our best time for Louisiana fly fishing is in the fall and early winter but the reality is that we have great fly fishing opportunities for fish of all sizes year round. We are still getting warmer temps in between cold fronts which has the bait finally starting to move around and the red fish are on their heals. With water temps in the Low 60’s it has our red fish super aggressive and we have actually started to get a few fish on top eating poppers. The warmer months are right around the corner and the fishing is gonna get hotter as the weather starts to stabilize so book your local Louisiana fly fishing guide for some spring and summer time dates!!
