Florida tarpon season presented a lot of unique opportunities. We finally had a decent cold winter which allowed for the normal migration process to take place down in the Florida keys in April and May. As soon as water temps started to warm the fish poured in from Florida bay and surrounding areas offering great scenarios That anglers look for. Fly fishing tarpon isn’t the easiest game we play in the fly fishing world but when the stars align it can be an experience you will never forget!
Islamorada Tarpon Fishing
Launching from Islamorada in the early Spring running into the back country of everglades national park was like going back into time… Big laid up and slow swimming tarpon littered the flats and muddy bays allowing for great sight fishing conditions. Anglers took advantage of these situations by jumping and landing a lot of mature, spawning size tarpon along with there smaller companions as well. We look forward to getting down to south Florida next spring and would love for you to join us!
Panhandle Tarpon Fishing
The north Florida tarpon season on the forgotten coast didn’t disappoint as well. Apalachicola and the surrounding areas had a good push of early fish which was set back a bit by a tropical storm for a few days. Conditions settled and the tarpon showed back up in spurts. The fishing in the panhandle can be finicky at times but when its right… its the best fishing we have all year!
We look forward to you booking your Spring/Summer 2019 Tarpon trips with us!!
